Community service and personal achievements throughout the yearsBaylor Young Entrepreneur Awards (2019)
In November of 2019 my sister and I were flown to Waco Texas as we were finalists for the Young Entrepreneur awards there. We were able to explore the stadium as well as get a tour of the Baylor University campus. After giving a presentation on our company we ended up coming in third place and were awarded a grant of 1,000 dollars and a handshake from the Dean of the University. In January of 2019 my sister and I auditioned in Las Vegas for Shark Tank. We waited in a huge line for hours talking to other entrepreneurs and getting to talk to them about some of the same struggles and insecurities small business face. Overall it was an amazing real world experience and made me realize that business was something that I really enjoy. The producers were super insightful when it came to ways to make our pitch more appealing and gave us some good advice. It was an amazing connection to have and who knows maybe we will be on the show one day! Pins For Pets(2013-2015)
My sister Abbigail Hickman started a nonprofit fundraiser at the age of 9 to help fundraise money for the local animal shelter. In three years the organization managed to raise over 30,000 dollars through an annual bowling competition. This was my first experience with community service and was able to get in 100's of hours by volunteering at the animal shelter. The Ronald McDonald House Charities (2016- Currently)
The RMHC was something that I got involved in after having stayed in multiple of the homes all over the United States. The RMHC provides a place to stay for children and their parents who are travelling for medical services and they go above and beyond to make sure every guest has everything they need to be able to go to appointments the next day. One thing that the RMCH provides is a weekly agenda filled with volunteers who bring dinner to even volunteers who bring in their service dogs. My company Madee's has donated our dog treats to a couple of different houses over the years. Along with that we've organized and encouraged our followers on social media to bring donations to their local shelters. Last February we were able to get 2 full U-Haul trucks sent to the Denver Colorado location and they were filled to the brim with everything the house needed. From shampoo to even diapers the house tries their best to have everything accessible to their residents. Below is a video posted on our Instagram that challenged our 900+ followers to do good in their community. |
